Not For the Size Queens...

I randomly stumbled upon these figures while googling reference for a painting I'm working on. These are done by Foundry Miniatures and, being gaming miniatures, are only 28mm tall (a little over an inch.)
They have a few sets featuring nudes (both male and female) amongst the vast array of figurines they have available. Some of the Greek Mythology sets show some skin, and if you do a "naked" search on the site you'll get another selection. There may be more, a lot of the "Historical" categories break down into further sub-categories. A knowledge of what cultures and armies generally played as "skins" might help.

2 Guys, 6 Armpits

Jazwares recent Mortal Kombat line has had a couple shirtless dudes in a variety of sizes. This is the set I've been eyeing, I think they'd make a fun addition to my collection.

The Ol' Movie Theater Popcorn Trick...

This is Popcorn from Yum Yum. I have no idea what his story is.
He was released earlier this year by the London based Yum Yum and is still available at their store along with 4 other characters.
Their website and animations are a lot of fun, worth checking out!

Mostly Shirtless

This figure intrigues me, as there were plenty of instances where Shane was fully clothed in the series, yet they decided to base the figure on a moment when he was showing a little more skin. For female characters, this is a no brainer - "Is there a scene where she was in her underwear or a bathing suit? 'Cause we'll do that version first!" But the males rarely seem to get that treatment... where's my "Gym Training" Duke from the first G.I.JOE movie, Hasbro?

Tom of Finland's Rebel

I first heard about this one about 6 months ago, but it's been around for nearly 10 years. Based on the artwork of Tom of Finland, this guy's a 13-incher, can achieve lots of different positions, is strippable, and includes a variety of dicks to fit your mood.
It seems Rebel was hoped to be the first of a series (it's often notated as 001 Rebel) but for whatever reason this is the only one that made it out. Which is a shame, a whole line of figures this detailed with a variety of looks and body types would be a lot of fun. Of course, then we'd need playsets... the bar/club, the gym (with interconnectable locker room (sold separately)), that "special" area of the park...

Medically, it Makes More Sense to Leave Your Underwear On

If you're going to sell your hero in his underwear, make sure he has some sort of medical tank he can be suspended in.

... or at least bondage equipment...

This Could Be the Reason Why...

You have no idea how erotic I found this card in 1991. Well played, Wacky Packages.

"C'mon, it's how the Greeks did it!"

I've yet to pick up this Bane figure, despite being very excited when it was announced. A shirtless Movie Masters figure? Yes, please! However, I remain underwhelmed whenever I look at it at Toys R Us. The torso just seems like a barely shaped blob that doesn't have the level of detail one expects from the Movie Masters line. It's disappointing when seen in person and I'm not ready to plunk down $35 for it (I've already got a MM Batman figure.) If I can find the Bane loose for $10 at some point I'll add him to the collection.

In the meantime, I'll wait for Mattel to redeem themselves by making a Movie Masters figure of this version of Ryan Reynold's Green Lantern:

Not-So-Buff Peter in the Buff

From high-end to lowbrow... Yay to Mezco for having the balls to give this guy a fairly mass release in 2004 (even if the figure itself doesn't actually have any... except maybe on his chin?!)

Billy

The Figma Billy Herrington figure from Max Factory is near the top of my "want" list. Nicely sculpted, super-articulated, with interchangeable underwear, hands, and head choices. I'm a little disappointed there's not an "anatomically correct" pelvis piece option, instead the figure comes with a flesh colored underwear piece to simulate nudity. Also, there's been 4 releases of this figure and I'd want accessories from 3 of those 4 releases - the black briefs from the Birthday edition, the sleeveless hoodie from the Christmas/New Years edition, and the weight set from the original release (which would be fun to share with my other shirtless figures). But at $100++ a pop, I'll settle for one for now.

Wilfrid Wood's Coot

Wilfrid Wood's Coot figure was one of the first I discovered when I started searching for designer toys that touched upon this subject matter. Released in 2007 with a run of reportedly around 400 pieces, this 7" hunk of vinyl has long since sold out.
Doing this blog post gave me an excuse to revisit the artist's website at wilfridwood.com and see some of his more recent work. Lots of sculptures on display at the site, well worth checking out!

This Is Why Your Son Is Gay

I figured I'd start off my pseudo holiday gift guide with a look at what I already own. (Is this because what follows will basically be my own personal wish list of stuff I've discovered exists but haven't acquired yet? Huh. Maybe.)

A few years ago I started a Male Shirtless (or Less) (Non-Wrestler) Action Figure collection. I already had a couple just from naturally collecting a few other lines (Casual Homer, Gollum, and the Warg Rider) and, honestly, I think I was just looking for an excuse to grab the Twilight Jacob figure.  I knew plenty of other figures existed that would fit this category though, and as a toy designer and collector, I liked the idea of having a collection theme that would allow me to pick up random figures from lines I wouldn't otherwise get anything from. And it's fun to just spot them randomly at department stores, Sub-Mariner and Kamandi were like that. Since I don't regularly follow their lines, I don't know they're coming until they're there.

It's fun to watch themes within the collection develop too. There's a tattoo subset (Jimbo, Jacob, Anakin, Darth Maul, Aqualad, and the Skateboarder guy.) And I thought Homer and Willie would be the only yellow ones but nope! There's That Yellow Bastard! With a syringe. And a whip.

(P.S. It's "non-wrestler" because the vast majority of wrestling figures are shirtless. And I don't like professional wrestling.)

There Needs To Be More Toys With Giant Boners

... as opposed to toys that ARE giant boners, which makes internet searching for such things tricky. I'm more interested in the action figures/figurines/character sculpts that are letting it all hang out, or nearly so. And since it 'tis the season, maybe I'll spend the next 12 (or 24 or whatever) days sharing some of the ones I've discovered and that have, in some cases, provided inspiration or even courage for my own work.

I just found out about this one thanks to the awesome toy community over at October Toys:

"I'm Not Gay" painted & finished!

Updated the website, adding a page for this guy. Maybe the title makes a little more sense (or is at least more fun) with the color added?

"Crest"

Launched a web page for the 3rd sculpt "Crest" here. I still need to finish a green tinted clear casting, then I'll take photos of a proper "Rainbow" group shot. But in the meantime figured I'd show off the sculpt and some photos of the other colors.

The 2nd "Hanging Out" paint up is revealed on the main site here.

W.I.P.s

Started a new sculpt tonight, the little pink one. The big green one was started a few weeks ago and is back-burnered for the time being (more expensive to mold and cast something that size.)

Only a few hours left on the auctions for the first of these! F.A.G.S. for sale!

NOW AVAILABLE!

Just listed these on ebay, the first ones to be offered to the public! If you want 'em now's your chance!

Wednesday, June 13, 2012

Added the pages for "Feeling Cocky" and "Hanging Out", removed the link to the "In Progress" page for now (until there's something there), but you can get a sneak peek at the next sculpt in the "In Progress" gallery on the Facebook page.

I have 10 solid resin castings of "Feeling Cocky" and then a few random clear castings of it. I'll give them all a unique paint up (eventually)!

I'm still making castings of "Hanging Out" which I"ll keep doing until the mold is unusable, so not sure how many of those I'll end up with.

Will make some of these available for sale soon!

Launched the website (www.F-A-G-S.com) and now the blog for talking about the sculpts and stuff. More soon!!!
